Hens Party Tufting Workshop in Sydney

Looking for a hens party idea that isn’t another group dinner? At Tufttea’s North Strathfield studio, your whole group spends the session making rugs from scratch, with our instructors guiding every step, and everyone leaves with something they actually made.

What a hens party tufting workshop looks like

We teach you how to use the tufting gun, help you choose your colours, and guide you through your design from start to finish. It’s 100% beginner-friendly, so nobody needs to be “crafty”. All tools and materials are provided — just bring your design idea (and a hair tie if you have long hair).

• Make a rug each, or share one. Pricing is per rug made, so pairs can share a frame.
• Design something together. Inside jokes, the bride-to-be’s favourite colours, matching rugs for the whole group — it’s your design.
• Take it home. In most cases your rug goes home with you the same day.

How long does it take?

Most workshops run for around 2–5 hours depending on your design, the rug size and whether the Professional Shaving & Trimming add-on is included:

• 40x40cm: 2–3 hours
• 60x60cm: 3–4 hours (our most popular size)
• 90x90cm: 4–5 hours

For groups with strict timing, we recommend the Professional Shaving & Trimming add-on, where our staff handle the final shaving and trimming so the session stays on schedule.

Group size and booking

Private group events are available for 10 or more people. For smaller groups, you can book sessions from our Sydney studio page, or get in touch if you’d like help organising it. We recommend booking 2–3 weeks ahead, especially for weekends.

Planning around drinks and food

We provide some light snacks and drinks, and you’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks. Alcohol can’t be consumed in the studio during the workshop, so save the celebratory drinks for before or after your session.

Studio sessions run Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm and Sunday 9:00am – 7:00pm. Private weekday sessions are available on request — contact us to arrange one. We are a quick 3–5 minute walk from North Strathfield station, and our shop has an all-day car park, with plenty of on-street parking as well.

Frequently asked questions

How many people do I need for a private hens party booking?

Our private group events are available for 10 or more people. If your group is larger, please let us know and we can help organise a customised session for your event.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking 2–3 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date and time, especially for weekend sessions.

Do we need any experience?

Not at all! Our tufting workshops are 100% beginner-friendly. We will teach you how to use the tufting gun, choose colours, and guide you through the process from start to finish.

Can we bring food and drinks?

Yes! We provide some light snacks and drinks, but you are welcome to bring your own as well. Please note that alcohol is not permitted to be consumed in the studio during the workshop.

Can two people share one rug?

Yes! We charge per rug made, so you are welcome to bring a friend or partner to share making the rug with.

Do we take our rugs home the same day?

In the majority of cases, yes — you’ll be able to take your rug home on the same day once it’s finished. If you’ve selected the Professional Shaving & Trimming add-on, we may arrange for the rug to be finished and collected or delivered at a later date to ensure the best quality finish.
